Human Fertilisation & Embryology
Mass lobby of MPs Houses of Parliament, May 14, 2008, 12:30 pm
Dear Father We are writing to you on behalf of the All-Party Parliamentary Pro-Life Group. We are enormously grateful for the support we have received from churches throughout the country in fighting against the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Bill.
Thanks to your help, the public meetings that we have organised have been an enormous success. In addition, MPs have been swamped with rising one million cards on the Bill, which have had a tremendous impact. However, erroneous and exaggerated claims are now being made by those trying to stampede Parliament into voting for the Bill and it is vital that we do everything we can to counter these assertions, which have been promoted in newspapers and in large sections of the media as though they were undisputed facts.
If you are in London, please attend the lobby. If not pray for its success. Our Mps to contact are Jack Straw for Blackburn and Nigel Evans for the Ribble Valley.
Yours very sincerely Lord Alton of Liverpool Jim Dobbin MP Rt Hon Ann Widdecombe MP Chairman All-Party Parliamentary Pro-Life Group
Zimbabwe
The Church is living out its vocation to be a peacemaker and the Zimbabwean bishops have just released a call urging the international community to support the people as they struggle for their democratic rights. There is, as Pope Benedict recognised in his recent speech to the United Nations, a solemn obligation on member states to intervene appropriately to protect fundamental human rights.
Zimbabwe is truly in crisis and at a crossroads. I ask you to pray for its suffering people in the coming days as they struggle to assert the rule of law over and against the supremacy of violence. Please remember Zimbabwe on this Sunday in particular as we seek to be united in prayer with all those who are working to create hope and peace." Bishop Crispian Hollis Chair, Department of International Affairs
Theme: The Father will love anyone who loves Jesus.
When Jesus ascended to Heaven, he reunited himself with His Father, but this time through his human love. He loves his Father with his human love and His Father loves him as a human being. What a difference this makes to us. God now loves us with human love. The Father and the Son share their love, the Holy Spirit, with us in a human way. This means that God finally closes the sin gap between us through his Son, Jesus Christ.
Year 6 Vocations
St Peter St Peter's original name was Simon. He did many good things in his life that is why he became the first ever Pope. Originally, he was a fisherman with his brother named Andrew. He was pictured as the leader and spokesman of the disciples. He also did missionary work as well as being a fisherman with his brother Andrew.
Peter often said the wrong thing at important moments. One day Andrew took Peter to Jesus, and Jesus said to Peter follow me, and Peter did not hesitate, he left every thing and embarked on an incredible journey. In one story, Jesus asked the disciples who they think He really was and Peter said you are the Messiah. In another story, Jesus said he was going to betray him three times before the cock crowed and he denied knowing Jesus three times, but Jesus forgave him.
I think St Peter is a good and kind person and he would have done anything for Jesus and he would not have committed a crime in his life because he followed the way of God. He was sad when Jesus died but when he rose again he was extremely happy. Jake Ormisher
My Vocation In the future, I want to be a professional Ice Skater. I would also like a partner to do spectacular lifts! You have to be prepared to fall and pick yourself up again, and you have to talented, brave, confident, dramatic, and devoted. You have to have a devoted family who will devote their time to you and who work hard to get the things you need to ice skate. I thank my family for doing these things! Olivia Dawson
